Contigo-Conmigo is a not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to supporting, through education and advocacy, patients who use marijuana for relief from their suffering. It is based upon a belief that therapeutic use of cannabis is morally, ethically, and medically justified.

Marijuana is listed in Schedule One (the most restrictive) of the Federal Controlled Substances Act (FCSA). Schedule One is supposed to be reserved for drugs which are considered highly toxic, highly dependence forming, and medically useless. In contrast to the government's official position, marijuana, as many scientific medical reports have shown, clearly has therapeutic efficacy, is relatively non-toxic (compared to commonly used legal drugs - even aspirin), and dependence is a rare anomaly. Because of the government's FCSA listing of marijuana as toxic and medically useless, research into its medicinal properties has been obstructed for over 60 years. The natural cannabis (hemp) plant itself has been illogically outlawed and its medical prohibition has created a situation where many thousands of ill and dying people are forced to become criminals in order to gain relief from their suffering. This situation is medically, ethically, and morally unjustifiable.

Contigo-Conmigo functions as an educational organization for nurses, M.D.s, and other medical professionals, as well as the general public. We medical professionals are finding ourselves in the unusual position of having little documented medical research about an apparently safe, effective herbal medicine with abundant evidence of natural therapeutic benefits which our patients value. Decades of "Drug War" hysteria fueled by the Federal Government has served to effectively define marijuana use soley as a criminal abuse issue, obstructed scientific medical research and denied the anecdotal medical evidence about cannabis therapy. At one point the U.S. "drug czar", Barry McCaffrey, dismissed the whole idea as "Cheech and Chong medicine... a hoax."

The plant has been demonized by the media for decades, and these implanted false impressions have been used to justify the medical prohibition of therapeutic marijuana. The result is a generation of medical professionals who know little about a substance which was routinely prescribed at the beginning of this century and beneficial for a wide variety of common ailments. Our purpose is to help dispell medical misinformation based upon ignorance and falsehoods. To do less would be a breach of our duty and an impediment to the progress of medical science.

Contigo-Conmigo does not grow nor supply marijuana. It is strictly an educational organization. Contigo-Conmigo will not assist in the procurement of marijuana or seeds. Contigo-Conmigo will obey all Oregon State Statutes and U.S. Code. Contigo-Conmigo will not engage in the growing, selling, or distributing of cannabis as long as this is a violation of any U.S. Code or Oregon Revised Statutes. Any and all information furnished to patients and health care professionals, including any and all information on cultivation, curing, preserving and ingesting of cannabis is considered informational and educational. Contigo-Conmigo takes no responsibility nor makes any representation for how this information is used.
